Course

Gonadal Shielding: Past, Present and Future

Ended Dec 31, 2020

Full course description

Course Introduction

Gonadal shielding has been standard practice in our profession for decades. Recently, there has been a new recommendation to eliminate gonadal shielding and make this the new standard in our industry. In this lecture, we will explore why the gonadal shielding requirements were required in the past, why the radiation physicists are now recommending the elimination of shielding and various guidelines for meeting ethical and legal standards of patient protection. Lastly, we will discuss the necessary communication needed to change this practice within healthcare professionals and patients' minds.

Learning Outcomes
