Course summary:
This course will help you understand how parks and recreation agencies contribute to the tourism industry, tourism's benefits and impacts on a community, and the importance of planning for community tourism in parks and recreation agencies.
Course objectives:
After completing this course, learners should be able to:
- Explain how tourism is a complementary economic activity.
- List three potential impacts of tourism in each of these categories: economic impacts, sociocultural impacts, and environmental impacts.
- Explain why parks and recreation facilities are an essential component of a community tourism program.
- Recognize the importance of planning for both community members and visitors.
- Describe the importance of planning for tourism.
