Course summary:
As an employee of a park and recreation agency, it is important to know the purpose of such agencies and the positive impacts they have on their communities. This course will introduce you to the history of park and recreation in the United States and will describe the importance of park and recreation agencies and the benefits they provide to the public. While you review this course, please be prepared to think about and reflect on how your agency serves the needs of your community.
Course objectives:
After completing this course, learners should be able to:
- Identify major events in the history of the park and recreation movement.
- Articulate the benefits park and recreation agencies provide to communities.
- Explain how your park and recreation services meet the needs of your community.
