Course Introduction
Supervisor Core Module I: Supervisor as Manager is a hybrid training that applies the tools of DISC, Clinical Supervision, and leadership styles to promote and enhance the skills of critical thinking, data analysis, performance, and conflict management to achieve the overall objectives of the Supervisor Core series.
Module Topics
This course covers the following topics:
- Promote critical thinking and accountability for strategic decisions that resolve barriers and advance progress to safe and timely legal permanency outcomes.
- Interpret the significance of data from state reports to practice.
- Assess and discuss leadership strengths and how they may be used to encourage team growth.
- Act as an advocate, change agent, and leader in building and sustaining a culture of permanence.
- Define collaboration and assess ways to incorporate it in team settings.
- Recognize characteristics of conflict and determine the conflict management styles and their associated qualities.

Meet the Designers
The Indiana Child Welfare Education & Training Partnership is designed to provide high quality social work education and statewide training for public child welfare employees. It provides BSW students with preparation for employment as a Family Case Manager; it allows DCS employees to enroll in the School's part-time MSW Program; and it provides state-of-the-art training to current DCS employees. This partnership is recognized nationally for its success and for its joint collaborative operation. Due to these efforts, Indiana is now seen as a model for the provision of public services that support children and families.
