Full course description

Welcome to the Research Data Commons page on climate and environment related data resources. This web-site contains videos and tutorials with links and R code that allow us to access publicly available data for conducting research on climate and environmental topics--data on temperature, precipitation, wind speed/direction, humidity and air pollution, for example. We hope you will find what we have here useful; over time, we expect we will build out more modules, so please send us suggestions!

The R code available under the "Modules" tab provides step-by-step guides and detailed examples on how to work with the data. The video below gives an overview of the resources available on this web-page.

This Canvas course has been created in collaboration with the IU Research Data Commons. Many thanks to (in alphabetical order) Dario Salcedo Monroy, Alex Hollingsworth, Haile Shone, Dennis Vera, Nikos Zirogiannis, for leading the creation of the educational materials, and many others for helpful comments. Especially large thanks to Alex and Nikos for painstakingly creating code for accessing these data from their original sources at NOAA.

We appreciate the collaboration of IU's Environmental Resilience Institute (ERI)
