About the Training

This online course is part of the 30 Hour Disordered Gambling Counselor Training. This course will focus on preparing for the initial interaction with a client. The course content delves into explaining how a client enters treatment, engaging and assessing a client for a treatment plan, evaluating for co-occurring addictions and mental health concerns, supporting a therapeutic relationship, selecting the core condition of treatment, comparing internal versus external motivations, and justifying a cost-benefit analysis.

Dr. Deborah Haskins, President of the Maryland Council on Problem Gambling, is a licensed professional counselor and IGCC-II, BACC.
