Full course description

Prevention Insights welcomes you to the self-paced course to review key prevention concepts and prepare you to take the IC&RC Certified Prevention Specialist Exam. This module is designed for prevention professionals who have completed the Substance Abuse Prevention Skills Training (SAPST) since its update in 2012, and who have worked in the substance use prevention field for at least one year (reaching the contract hour requirement for IC&RC Certification).

This self-paced module will assist participants in reviewing the six IC&RC domains and their associated tasks, provide sample exam questions, and provide additional resources for review. This module can be completed at the participant's own pace, and can be returned to after completing.

By the end of this module, you will have completed the following objectives:

  • Learned the six domains of the IC&RC Prevention Specialist Credential and reviewed core information related to each domain
  • Completed a self-assessment of your strengths and weaknesses for each of the essential tasks within the domains
  • Completed sample test questions to prepare you for the IC&RC Examination
  • Received additional resources related to each domain

This course does not count as an IU credit hour. The content in this course and a participation certificate are available for free; however, if you would like a certificate of completion with a Continuing Education Unit (CEU), you will need to pay $15/CEU at the end of the course.
