The Conversational Spanish series is hosted by the IUI Professional Development and Continuing Education department.

Speaking Spanish in your work or daily life will make you more confident in your interactions and can be a valuable asset to your employer and on your resume. Regardless of how much Spanish you already know, PDCE Conversational Spanish courses are designed for the adult learner who wants to put their new language skills to work right away.

The Conversational Spanish Series is divided into three modules: Intro, Basic, and Advanced (2-hour, in-person sessions) so you can enroll in one module or all three! All courses are presented by experienced IU faculty, in two-hour, Saturday sessions.



Course Price: $325

This in-person course - presented in two parts, on two separate days - will cover pronunciation and basic conversation while revisiting all aspects learned in the Intro module (Parts I & II) plus months of the year, seasons, weather, clothing preference, daily routines, adverbs, prepositions, irregular verbs, difference between saber and conocer, gerunds, verbs in the past (preterite and imperfect), cultural discussions.

Part I - Saturday, September 7, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Part II - Saturday, September 14, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Location: IUI Campus, University Hall, Room 1006 (301 University Blvd., Indianapolis, IN 46202)

This course is open to all individuals seeking career or job enhancement, as well as individuals seeking personal enrichment.



You may register for the following modules of Conversational Spanish separately:

Intro Module (Cost: $325)

    • Part I - August 17
    • Part II - August 24

Advanced Module (Cost: $650)

      • Part I - September 21
      • Part II - September 28
      • Part III - October 5
      • Part IV - October 12

 

If you enroll in both the Intro and Basic modules only, you receive a special discount of $50 off the $650 combined cost of the two modules. Use promo code IBSP24 when completing payment.  An installment payment plan is also available if these two modules are purchased together, with a $20 processing fee. Payment for the two modules – combined – must be completed by August 23, 2024.

Enroll in the full Conversational Spanish series (Intro, Basic and Advanced modules) and receive a special discount of $150 off the $1,300 series cost. Use promo code IIBA24SP when completing payment.  An installment payment plan is also available for the full series, with a $20 processing fee. Payment for the full series must be completed by September 13, 2024.

How to Access

  1. If you do not already have an IU Guest Account, you must create one. You'll find more information about creating an IU Guest Account here.
  2. After obtaining access to an IU Guest Account, come back to this page and click Register Now to register and pay for the courseOnce enrolled, click "Go to Canvas course" to get started. All coursework will be delivered through Canvas. After course completion, you can hover over your name in the top right corner of the IU Expand home page and select Student Dashboard to view your completed courses , then download your certificate of completion.
  3. Click "Register Now" button at top of page. This will take you to the IU Conferences registration site for this course. Register and pay for course on the IU Conferences registration site,which requires a separate login account. IU Conferences will send an email confirming payment and provide you with a link to the selected course(s). 
    1. Note: this email is your invoice and receipt of payment. You have just completed registration. Now you are ready to enroll in the course.
  4. Link for course will be in the email from IU Conferences under "item description" next to the title of registered course. Copy the link and put in browser to take you to page to enroll in course.
  5. Once enrolled, click "Go to Canvas course" to get started. All coursework will be delivered through Canvas. 
  6. After course completion, you can hover over your name in the top right corner of the IU Expand home page and select Student Dashboard, view your completed courses, then download your certificate of completion.
