Course Introduction

The goal of this training is to increase teacher efficacy in working with the increasing number of students with Autism through e-learning and face-to-face instruction. Therefore, it is uniquely designed to combine video instruction with virtual reality simulations focusing on best practices for students identified under the 13 categories of disabilities of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), specifically Autism. This training, which includes video instructions and virtual reality simulations, can be included as part of the professional development portfolio of the nearly 57,000 Indiana teachers in the field. Additionally, it is hoped that it would be useful for parents and community workers (e.g. police officers, social workers, and fire fighters) to benefit and support students with Autism outside of the classroom.
