Who: English W131 & Speech S121 students
What: A fun-filled, two-day adventure in Chicago, applying communication processes and critical thinking. Thursday, we will leave Kokomo on a bus to experience a day of improvisation at one of Chicago's renowned improvisation studios. We will learn the basics of improvisation, thinking on our feet, listening, and responding before special sessions on communicating through music, becoming stronger storytellers, and communicating through our stress and anxiety. Finally, we will have dinner at Chicago's own Giordanno's Pizza and stay in a hotel. The next day, we will go to The Chicago Museum of Art to feel the impact of how artist communicate their vision, chat during lunch alongside others at Millennium Park, and spend some time at Chicago's cultural centers, discovering how individuals communicate their culture. We will end the adventure by watching Spoken-Word Artist and author, Shane Koyczan at The Patio Theater.
