WHAT: On this trip, students can expect to receive both an exciting and education look into real world applications of technology, technological progress, and groundbreaking future achievements in science and technology fields. Two special exhibits that are currently taking place at the museum of science and industry are Wired to Wear and Makes United. Wired to Wear showcases wearable technology that range anywhere from jackets that help you “see” in dark spaces, racing suits that deploy their own airbags, or even a Jet Suit capable of traveling 32 mph. Wired to Wear showcases a variety of clothing and technology all which have multiple different uses and designs to look at how we as a society can resolves issues even with things as fundamental as clothing. The second exhibit, Makers United, goes a step further and is a workshop that will allow students to create their own piece of wearable tech in the form of a wearable LED circuit band. The workshop allows students the opportunity to learn, experience, and be part of the movement of wearable tech clothing via a more hands on approach. Outside of the two special exhibits, students will get to see a large variety of technological innovation that has taken place throughout history and learn more of the building blocks that started the industry that they will one day be a part of.
