About the Course

This course covers the scientific principles behind OCT technology, both current and emerging, and the clinical indications for its use. The majority of the course consists of clinical case examples highlighting the use of OCT in patient care and management. Several conditions including macular edema, VMTS, ERM, macular hole, AMD, PED, neurosensory retinal detachment, glaucoma, NAION, ONH drusen, solar maculopathy, outer retinal tubules, and many others are covered.

Learning Objectives

  • To provide participants a better understanding of current and emerging OCT technology
  • To provide participants with indications for utilizing OCT, improving their ability to make clinical decisions
  • To utilize clinical case examples to discuss the use of OCT in the clinical care of patients with vitreoretinal interface disorders, making attendees more comfortable in managing these patients
  • To utilize clinical case examples to discuss the use of OCT in the management of optic nerve disorders, making attendees more comfortable in managing these patients
  • To utilize clinical case examples to discuss the use of OCT in the management of retinal disorders, making attendees more comfortable in managing these patients
  • To utilize clinical case examples to discuss the use of OCT in the management of anterior segment disorders, making attendees more comfortable in managing these patients

Meet the Instructor

Dr. Brad SuttonBrad Sutton, OD, FAAO

Dr. Brad Sutton is a Clinical Professor at the Indiana University School of Optometry and is the Chief of Service at the Indianapolis Eye Care Center. Dr. Sutton’s main areas of clinical interest include ocular disease and surgical co-management. He has given over 500 continuing education lectures on topics related to ocular disease at the local, state, national, and international level, and has published extensively. He was named the Young OD of the year in both Tennessee and Indiana, has received the Indiana Optometric Association’s Educator of the Year award, and has served as the President of the Optometric Retina Society.

All Indiana University School of Optometry (IUSO) online continuing education is COPE approved.
