Course Introduction

This self-study course provides an overview of substance use disorder and ways community members can help battle the disease and reduce stigma around it. 

This course comprises 4 modules for the learner track and 5 modules for the trainer track, which will include video, readable content, self-check questions, and other activities. Though some of the information and videos refer to the state of Indiana, the stories and themes depicted in the course are applicable to everyone. 

This activity was funded by the Commission for Higher Education of the State of Indiana, CARES Mental Health Programs and developed in partnership with the Indiana University Responding to the Addictions Crisis Grand Challenge and the Indiana University School of Nursing. 

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this activity, learners will be able to:

Learner Track:

  1. State three lessons learned related to substance use disorders and treatment, and
  2. Identify one action that will be taken as a result of completing this training.

Trainer Track:

  1. Describe the In This Together videos and supporting resources, and
  2. State the community to be engaged and planned delivery method to present In This Together.

  • Module 2:  Treatment and Recovery

  • Module 3:  Prevention & Harm Reduction

  • Module 4:  Hope for Our Communities

  • Module 5:  Implications for Trainers (trainer track only)
