Full course description
Course Overview
This course is designed to be the equivalent of a first-year college US history course. Along with the second semester course, it will also prepare students for the AP US History exam given in May of each year. This First Semester course will focus on early US history, beginning with the colonial period and continuing up through the civil war and its immediate aftermath. Students will develop skills in critical and evaluative thinking, essay writing, interpretation of original documents and historiography.
The course is designed for fourth-year high-school students. Students intending to take the AP exam are given a suggested timeline for completing both semesters by May.
