Full course description

Course Overview

A third-year course focusing on all aspects of German language, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students learn to communicate in German and at the same time develop a structural awareness of the German language. Since the goals of communicative and grammatical competence are ultimately inseparable, students are guided towards the usage of German as accurately as possible. By the end of the course students should be able to read authentic texts and understand video segments on a variety of topics. Students will improve their ability to communicate thoughts in German – both orally and in writing – and have a stronger knowledge of German grammar. Students will also learn more about German-speaking cultures through a variety of texts and contexts, helping them develop sensitivity to some of the issues and problems of contemporary life.

This course is designed for the third or fourth year of high school.
