Full course description

Course Overview

This course continues the study of present-day German from the beginning German course. Course consists of further development of oral and written command of German language structures, review of selected grammatical items, listening comprehension, reading of literary and non-literary texts, and discussion of selected films. Includes the writing of compositions based on the material covered, plus an emphasis on both speaking proficiency and structural awareness. Active oral participation required.
Duration of course enrollment is 18 weeks (126 days).

Students are required to provide evidence that they meet all ACP requirements/prerequisites (C or above grade on all prerequisites, GPA of 2.7 or higher) before proceeding with the course.

Completion of the entire course equates to the completion of Intermediate German I, First Semester. One high school credit will be awarded, as well as 3 college credits.

2.7 GPA; three years high school German or completion of Beginning German II with a C- or better

(Due to availability issues this can replace the earlier Essential German Grammar by Monika Reimann)

 

Students will need access to an audio/video recording device (smart phone, web-cam etc.) to record some assignments.
A German-English dictionary is also recommended.
