Course Overview
This course features a sampling of British literary heritage from the Old English period to 1798. It includes literary analysis of such works as Beowulf and Shakespeare's "Macbeth," literary forms such as the sonnet and lyric poetry, and works of such British writers as Marlowe, Donne, Jonson, Defoe, Swift, and Pope. Writing assignments include storytelling, autobiographical narrative, the sonnet, the editorial, and five-paragraph comparative and reflective essays.
This course is designed for third year high-school students or higher.

Prerequisite
English 9 and 10 strongly suggested, but not required.
Required Materials
Students are required to create slideshow presentations and videos, and view the film "Dead Poets Society". Assignments require Microsoft Word.
