Course Introduction

The IU East Richmond Chorale is a vocal ensemble for IU East students and community members. The Chorale gives 1-3 performances per semester on the IU East campus or in the surrounding region.

Rehearsal and Registration Information

This site is for community member registration. IU East students should register for MUS-X 70 this spring for either 0, 1 or 2 credits. Students can register by clicking here.

Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings in Vivian Auditorium in Whitewater Hall from 6-7:45pm. Rehearsals begin August 22.

September 24: Community Sing, Reid Center
December 2: with the Earlham College choirs: Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb; Rutter's Gloria
February 10: Valentine's Day Elizabethan Dinner, Reid Center
May TBD: Broadway Favorites concert

Learning Outcomes

Participants in this course will be able to:

  • Analyze the structure and context of varied musical works and their implications for performance.
  • Develop personal interpretations that consider creators’ intent.
  • Evaluate and refine personal and ensemble performances, individually or in collaboration with others.
  • Perform expressively, with appropriate interpretation and technical accuracy, and in a manner appropriate to the audience and context.

Course Learning Outcomes are taken from the National Association for Music Education 2014 Standards for Ensembles.

Director Bio

Renée Anderson is a music director and voice teacher in Indianapolis, IN. She has performed with Footlite Musicals, the Edyvean Repertory Theater, and Indianapolis Opera, and recitals featuring art songs, motets, arias, song cycles and other works by composers from Baroque to Contemporary for the Indianapolis Matinee Musicale music club, as a voice faculty member at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis, as a guest artist at Indiana Wesleyan University, and at Ball State University. 

Ms. Anderson is an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and Indianapolis Matinée Musicale music club, and she is a certified instructor of the Harmony Road early childhood music curriculum.  She earned a B.A. in Music Education from Indiana State University, a M.M.E. specializing in Voice Pedagogy from the University of North Texas, and is currently pursuing a D.A. in Voice at Ball State University in Muncie, IN.  Ms. Anderson is excited to join the faculties of Purdue University and IU East the Fall of 2023 and direct the IU East Richmond Chorale.
