Course summary:

There is an almost endless supply of information available on the Internet and it's growing daily. To avoid getting off course in this virtual world of information you need the skills of a researcher, at least at some level, this course provides that. This course is important since it provides skills to get the most out of your Internet searching, whether it's for a quick query or a burning question you need the answer to.

This course will teach you how to conduct accurate Internet research by creating a search plan, searching both the surface web and the deep web, and staying organized. You will also learn how to think critically and find the best sources for your Internet search.

After completing this course, learners should be able to:

  • Describe why Internet research skills are important.
  • Create an Internet search plan.
  • Search the surface web and the deep web using a variety of tools.
  • Assess the credibility and validity of a website.
  • Cite sources and avoid plagiarism.
