Course summary:

This course provides an explanation of what dialogic interpretation is and then explores three approaches to this 21st century interpretive technique: Audience-Centered Experiences, Mission-Based Dialogue, and Visitor-Centered Interpretation.

For organizations and interpreters who are interested in integrating more audience-focused techniques into their interpretive programs, this course will provide information on how to do this.

Course objectives:

After completing this course, learners should be able to:

  • Define dialogic interpretation.
  • Recognize the three approaches to dialogic interpretation discussed in this course.

Recommended background:

It is recommended that students taking this course have experience in interpretation. There are no required prerequisites, but it is recommended that students complete the free Foundations of Interpretation course prior to taking this one.
