Course summary:
As a public sector employee responsible for the ethical stewardship of tax-payer's dollars, setting and tracking a fiscally responsible budget is a fundamental supervisory skill. This course covers the basics of budgeting for those that have limited experience at developing and managing operations budgets.
Course objectives:
After completing this course, learners should be able to:
- Define basic budgeting process terms.
- Set up a Zero-based Budget and a Spending Plan for a small operations department.
- Identify desirable practices for responsible Zero-based Budgeting in the public sector.
- Describe your local Budgeting process and who should be part of the Budget Development Team.
Recommended background:
This course is aimed at new supervisors and managers who are unfamiliar with public sector budgeting.
