Course summary:

As a public sector employee responsible for the ethical stewardship of tax-payer's dollars, setting and tracking a fiscally responsible budget is a fundamental supervisory skill. This course covers the basics of budgeting for those that have limited experience at developing and managing operations budgets.

Course objectives:

After completing this course, learners should be able to:

  • Define basic budgeting process terms.
  • Set up a Zero-based Budget and a Spending Plan for a small operations department.
  • Identify desirable practices for responsible Zero-based Budgeting in the public sector.
  • Describe your local Budgeting process and who should be part of the Budget Development Team.

This course is aimed at new supervisors and managers who are unfamiliar with public sector budgeting.
