Course summary:

This course presents guidelines managers should follow in order to satisfy requirements of the Wilderness Act, the Endangered Species Act, and agency policies when managing threatened and endangered species in wilderness. The course references stewardship goals, the stewardship model, and specific management steps within the model.

Course objectives:

After completing this course, learners should be able to:

  • Explain fundamental concepts related to managing threatened and endangered species in wilderness as provided by the Wilderness Act, the Endangered Species Act, and agency policies.
  • Identify the guiding principles for managing these resources.

Recommended background:

It is strongly recommended that you complete the free The Wilderness Act of 1964 course before beginning this course. Without foundational knowledge of the Wilderness Act, you will not be able to get the most out of this course and could find the content confusing.
