Course summary:

This course covers the fundamentals of fish and wildlife management in wilderness. Course content includes relevant law and policy requirements that guide management approaches to the various threats and issues that involve fish and wildlife. This course uses case studies to demonstrate a variety of management options.

Course objectives:

After completing this course, learners should be able to:

  • Explain the guiding principles of fish and wildlife management in wilderness as provided by the Wilderness Act and agency policy.
  • Recognize potential threats to fish and wildlife in wilderness.
  • Determine how best to manage these resources in wilderness.

Recommended background:

It is strongly recommended that you complete the free The Wilderness Act of 1964 and the Minimum Requirements Analysis courses before beginning this course. It is recommended that you also complete Natural Resource Management in Wilderness: Fundamentals before beginning the course. Without foundational knowledge of the Wilderness Act, you will not be able to get the most out of this course and could find the content confusing.
