Course Introduction
In this course you will learn what constitutes an acquired brain injury, its causes and prevalence, and best practices for accommodating functional limitations in both school and work.Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Identify the types and causes of acquired brain injury and how the medical community defines level of severity.
- Reflect on the increased prevalence of acquired brain injury and how that has affected public opinion and policy.
- Demonstrate how identifying the specific lobes/areas of the brain that have been injured predicts possible symptoms.
- Define common functional challenges for individuals with acquired brain injury.
- Determine whether an individual should be evaluated for an acquired brain injury.
- Describe treatment for various types of acquired brain injury and accommodations for related functional challenge.
- Articulate factors that can impact treatment and recovery for individuals with acquired brain injury.
- Differentiate quality transition services from ineffective ones for students with acquired brain injury.
- Evaluate approaches for effective career planning, training, and job placement for individuals with acquired brain injury.

This course will be offered four times each year. The cost is $75.00.

Registration for each course will open in the month prior to training. Earn professional development credits (CE units, CRCs, PGP hours) upon course completion. This course takes approximately 5 hours to complete.
