Full course description

We live in a beautiful world where it would take over a lifetime to marvel at its wonder, its peoples, and take part in the numerous cultures and diverse knowledge that define it. Indiana University embraces the diversity of community and ideas, and international collaboration is one of the cornerstones that facilitates our core value of serving as an institution of higher learning to Indiana, the nation, and the world. The Research Security Office at Indiana University is committed to preserving these values and critical international engagement.

Unfortunately though, there are individuals and groups who would exploit our values and eagerness to learn for selfish gain, to secure a competitive advantage, or to cause harm. This is the reality we must face, but we shouldn't let it deter us from moving forward.

This Foreign Travel Security Briefing is designed for all Indiana University staff and faculty who are engaging in foreign travel. The goal of this briefing is to educate participants in:

  1. Preparing for travel beforehand
  2. Being aware that they may be targeted by malicious actors and offers strategy on how to protect against such actors
  3. General safety while traveling abroad
  4. What to do if caught in a crisis
  5. Export control general guidance

This briefing is not specific to any mode of travel or destination. It is intended to provide the participant with general security information and resources wherever they may travel abroad.

Please enjoy the Foreign Travel Security briefing from your Research Security Office!
