Full course description

Before you attend your class in this course, you will need to email your instructor to tell them what lab you're working with that needs LARC access.  Log into Canvas and Click on the "inbox" and send a message to your instructor.  

You will need to bring your IU University ID to attend this course.

What is this course about?

This is a 30 minute course that will cover the procedures and processes which are required when working in the biohazard and carcinogen animal housing rooms at the LARC Facility. The course will include a discussion on personal protective equipment, traffic flow patterns, labeling requirements, and handling/disposal of dirty cages.

Who should attend this course?

This course will be most useful for new research faculty and staff.

What are the prerequisites for this course?

The NB Facility LARC Basic Orientation Training course is a required prerequisite. LARC ABSL-2 Training is required for rodent biohazard (and carcinogen) housing access. Please sign up for this class at least 24 hours in advance.

Helpful Tips

The LARC Basic Orientation Training courses are facility specific. You are required to register and attend multiple basic training courses if the research animals you'll be working with are housed in more than one facility.

If the course location is listed as TBA (to be announced), this means that the course location will be announced to participants by the instructor prior to class time.
