Full course description
For the safety and protection of the trainee, IACUC approval is now required prior to attending ABSL2 training. Once enrolled the trainee will be notified within 24 to 48 hours to see if training can proceed. Those who are not IACUC approved, will be withdrawn from the course. After IACUC approval, it will be up to the associate to register for this class. IB Basic Orientation is a facility required prerequisite and must be taken prior to IB ABSL2 Training.
What is this course about?
This is a 45 minute course that will cover the procedures and processes which are required when working in the Animal Biosafety Level 2 (ABSL2) animal housing rooms at the LARC IB Facility. The course will include demonstration and discussion on personal protective equipment, traffic flow patterns, labeling requirements, and handling/disposal of dirty cages.

What are the prerequisites for this course?
The LARC IB Facility Basic Orientation Training course is a required pre-requisite. LARC ABSL-2 Training is required for rodent ABSL2 housing access. Please sign up for this class at least 24 hours in advance.
The LARC Basic Orientation Training courses are facility specific. You are required to register and attend multiple basic training courses if the research animals you'll be working with are housed in more than one facility.
