Course Introduction

This Fire Safety Training course is designed to teach you preventive measures that will eliminate or minimize causes of fire or fire hazards in the workplace, and to teach you proper emergency and evacuation procedures in the event of a fire.

The goals of this Fire Safety Training is to ensure that IU Faculty, Staff and Students:

• Understand the major causes of fires

• Learn how to prevent fires

• Look for possible fire hazards and report them

• Be aware of fire safety devices in their office and building

• Be familiar with the building's emergency procedures

• Know what to do if a fire breaks out

 

• Learn how to evacuate quietly and calmly

Learning Outcomes

After completing the modules, you will be able to:

  • Understand the major causes of fires

  • Learn how to prevent fires

  • Know how to look for potential fire hazards

  • Be able to be aware of fire safety devices in their offices and buildings

  • Be familiar with emergency procedures in buildings

  • Know what to do if a fire breaks out

  • Learn how to evacuate from a fire
