In-Person or Zoom.  This lunch and learn series is sponsored by Emergency Management & Continuity and is available to anyone interested in learning about safety.  See below for sessions:

September 12: Emergency Preparedness 101  An introduction to Emergency Preparedness, this session is designed to introduce you to common hazards, identify the associated risks, and provide guidance and developing your own Emergency Action Plan.  Come learn the fundamentals of emergency preparedness.  

September 19: Fire Extinguisher Awareness Featuring INLOCC. This session will introduce you to the various types of fire extinguishers, including recommendations for your kitchen and car, and the appropriate times to use it.  There will be brief demonstration on how to operate an extinguisher.

October 3: Active Aggressor - Run, Hide, Fight - An armed assailant/active shooter incident could occur any time, any place.  We'll explore the Run, Hide, Fight strategies for protecting yourself in a variety of settings, including both on and off campus.  Learn tips on being prepared during an incident, as well as learning how to identify warning signs and reporting concerning behavior.  

October 24: Earthquake Safety  We'll discuss the New Madrid Seismic Zone, located right here in Indiana!  This fault has potential to produce large earthquakes, so come learn about how to effectively Drop-Cover-Hold On and the realities of aftershocks.  Classroom: IUB IMU Sassafras; Webinar: 

November 7: Building Emergency Kits  Learn the fundamentals of building an emergency kit for your home and car and we'll help you make a list of necessary items to include in your personalized kit.  Classroom: IUB IMU Persimmon Room; Webinar:

November 14: Stop the Bleed  Featuring IU Health Methodist Trauma Center.  Bleeding is the #1 killer of injured patients, including those from mass casualty events.  The focus of this training is on recognition of life-threatening bleeding with appropriate medical treatment.  This training will show participants the actions that they can take to help save a life before professional rescuers arrive.  Classroom: IUPUI Lockefield Village 1101; Webinar:
