(This is a 2 Part Class: Section 1 from 9 am-12 pm, lunch break, Section 2 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm).  This course is an introduction to both the language of business and to the underlying concepts of accounting.  It will be taught in two sections, the first section of the course covers the foundation of accounting and the second section of the course will be more hands on practical knowledge.  We will get into the financial statements from both the top down approach and through the use of debits and credits and T-accounts. This course will provide you with important, practical information to function in today’s business world. You will become familiar with the variety of accounting information available, and learn how it is interpreted and used by decision makers.  The focus of the workshop will not be on IU specific practices and procedures.
