Full course description
Course Introduction
This course is required training for Class 3B or 4 laser users. Training must be completed to ensure the safe use of lasers by IU faculty, staff, and students. Specific training on each laser must be provided by the Principal Investigator.
This training is intended for Indiana University community members only. If you need to complete this training as a guest user, you may request access to the course at ehs@iu.edu.
Learning Outcomes
After completing the module, you will:
- Understand the fundamentals of laser operation
- Know the bioeffects of laser radiation on eyes and skin
- Identify appropriate PPE
- Implement laser system control measures
- Identify non-beam hazards associated with laser operation
