Course Introduction

This training is to provide contractors or subcontractors with the information needed to ensure the safety of university faculty, staff, students, and visitors who may be in proximity to renovation, demolition, installation, or maintenance operations.

Learning Outcomes

After completing the module, you will be able to:

  • Know and understand how to protect the safety and health of university faculty, staff, students, and visitors while conducting work activities on any of the IU campuses.

  • General Information regarding: Indoor Air Quality, Asbestos, Barricades, Biohazards/Infectious Materials, Chemical Hazard Communication, Construction Lighting, Compressed Gas Cylinders, Cranes, Demolition, Drilling, Electricity, Emergency Procedures, Enforcement Policy, Excavations, Fire Reporting, Flammable Material Storage, Hazard Reporting, Hazardous Material Storage, Heavy Equipment, Housekeeping, Lab safety, Lifts and Platforms, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Lockout/Tagout Procedures, Material Storage, Mold, Permit-Required Confined Space Entry Procedures, Hot Work Permit, Personal Protective Equipment, Powder Actuated Tools, Radiation, Scaffolding, Tools and Equipment, Underground Installations, and  Environmental Concerns including Removal and Disposal of Environmentally Hazardous Materials
