Course Introduction
This class is to provide IU employees involved in activities related to hazardous and biological materials transportation with comprehensive guidance for regulatory compliance. Compliance with Department of Transportaion (DOT) Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) regulations (49 CFR Parts 170-180) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as publishe in the Internationa Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods regulations is a requirement for any person who offers a hazardous material for shipment. Non-compliance with the federal HMR can result in civil or even criminal penalties for the University and the individual(s) responsible for the violation.
This course satisfies the Department of Transportation requirements for training. It is required that the classroom attended be the first time this training is acquired, allowing refresher training to be taken via the online course.

PARKING: The campus Purple and Brown shuttles stop in front of the Lockefield Office building. Parking is available in the Lockefield Garage, just South of the office building on Wishard Blvd. A pay kiosk is located in the garage lobby and will take cash and cards. Although there are meters in the lot of the Lockefield Building, it is rare that a space is available.
