Course Introduction

This course is to provide individuals who will be working with chemicals in the laboratory on the IU Bloomington campus with sufficient training to enable them to conduct their work safely in compliance with OSHA Lab Standard (29 CFR 1910.1450). Training must be provided prior to the time when individuals begin their duties involving chemicals and whenever there is a significant change in the types or quantities of chemicals used.  Departments and, ultimately, principal investigators, lab managers, or lab supervisors are responsible for ensuring that all individuals working in their laboratories have been adequately trained. 

Learning Outcomes

After completing the module, you will be:

  • Aware of Principal Requirements of OSHA Lab Safety Standard
  • Knowledgable of safe lab behavior and practices
