Course Introduction
Indiana University Environmental Health and Safety (IUEHS) has developed this training to ensure a safe work environment and to protect the health and safety of employees who may be required to work in areas where fall hazards are present. It is the intention of this training to comply with the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Fall Protection standards 29 CFR 1926.500 and 29 CFR 1926.502.
Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Know and understand how to maintain a safe work environment when fall hazards are present.
Module Topics Include
- Nature of fall hazards in the work area
- Best practices when working in the presence of fall hazards
- Correct procedures for erecting, maintaining, disassembling, and inspecting fall protection systems
- Use and operation of guardrail systems, personal fall arrest systems, and other protection methods
