Course Introduction
This micro-credential serves as evidence that the participant completed the five modules (i.e., Module I: How Can We See Ourselves and Others in the Curriculum?, Module II: Does the Medium Matter?, Module III: What Does Equity Look Like in Practice?, Module IV: What Does Inclusion Look Like in Practice?, Module V: How Can Technology Build Bridges?) and the micro-credential assessment module, which contains an IUPUI faculty approved project.
Meet the Designers
This module series was created by the Collaborative for Equitable and Inclusive STEM Learning (CEISL) and is based on the work of the Digital Education Hub, a project of the Indiana University School of Education-Indianapolis at IUPUI, funded by the Indiana Department of Education GEER Grant.
Learning Outcomes
Module 1: How Can We See Ourselves and Others in the Curriculum?
- Understand general curricular practices through the lens of windows and mirrors
- Explore approaches to creating windows and mirrors through technology tools
- Reflect on personal practices that relate to creating windows and mirrors in the curriculum
- Develop inclusion-centered practices and materials in the classroom that can reflect students' experiences
Module 2: Does the Medium Matter?
- Develop an understanding of media, modalities, and their affordances
- Distinguish between a range of media modalities (in class, web enabled F2F, fully online)
- Evaluate technology tools for equitable and inclusive learning environments
Module 3: What Does Equity Look Like in Practice?
- Analyze equitable practices in action
- Evaluate & interpret how my practices influence equity in the classroom
- Create opportunities for increased equity in practice
Module 4: What Does Inclusion Look Like in Practice?
- Connect how Universal Design for Learning supports an inclusive classroom learning environment
- Evaluate how learning styles can be used to increase inclusive practices in teaching and learning
- Analyze inclusive practices in action
- Create opportunities for increased inclusion in practice
Module 5: How Can Technology Build Bridges?
- Identify pathways for inclusive decision-making while building lessons
- Analyze different aspects of community that you consider while creating lessons
- Develop a bridge of engagement between the classroom and community
